"I have the honor to acknowledge
the
receipt of your Lordship's Despatch No.176 of the 13th April last, enclosing the Royal Warrants
of
the
appointing David Jardine, and Joseph Fletcher, Esquires, Members Legislative Council of Hongkong.
In obedience to Her Majesty's
Commands, these Gentlemen
were sworn in
by
me, and took their seats yesterday, at a meeting of the Legislative Council, which I caused to be summoned for the purpose;
and the Public
was informed accordingly
in the Government Gazette.
